LaMelo Ball is easily one of the top guards in the class of 2019, but his unlikely hopes at NCAA eligibility have kept schools away thus far in his senior season.
When we spoke to LaVar Ball last week, he told us that schools would start reaching out to LaMelo. On Saturday, it looked like LaVar was right. LaMelo was spotted at Crisler Center for Michigan’s game against Western Michigan, sparking speculation that the Wolverines were the first major program to actively recruit LaMelo.
But that evidently wasn’t the case.
According to The Athletic’s Brendan F. Quinn, LaMelo was in Ann Arbor as a guest of a different recruit – SPIRE teammate Isaiah Jackson. Ball wasn’t on an official visit to Michigan, and there’s no indication that John Beilein has even inquired about LaMelo.
When speaking at his introductory press conference at SPIRE, LaMelo listed Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina as potential destinations.
