Bush, Michigan’s junior captain, was named as a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association. Willekes, a junior and former walk-on, was a second-team FWAA selection.
It’s the third All-American nod for Bush so far (Walter Camp, AP) and the second for Willekes (Camp).
If Bush earns a first-team All-America honor from either the Sporting News or the American Football Coaches Association later this week, he’ll give Michigan a consensus All-America pick for the third straight year. Jabrill Peppers and Jourdan Lewis earned that distinction in 2016, and Maurice Hurst earned that honor last year.
Bush, who has been projected as a possible first-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL draft, finished the year with 79 tackles (nine for a loss) and five sacks for the Wolverines’ No. 1-ranked defense.
