Michigan football has already added some really good athletes in their 2019 recruiting class and four-star athlete Quavaris Crouch would be another.
When it comes to recruiting, the Michigan football program had a pretty good Wednesday on early national signing day. The Wolverines landed Daxton Hill and the best class in the Big Ten.
Well, now, that success might be paying off as it seems that Michigan football is trending in the right direction when it comes to four-star athlete Quavaris Crouch. That’s according to Wolverines Wire.
Crouch is the No. 39 prospect in the 2019 class and he is slated to announce on Jan. 5 in the All-American Bowl. He’s a big-time recruit and if the Wolverines landed him, he would be the highest-ranked player in the class outside of Hill.
He would also give the Wolverines another elite athlete and if Michigan wants to catch Ohio State, that is what it needs more of.
There were a few key takeaways from the Wolverines loss to Ohio State. One was that Michigan needs to open things up offensively. Another is that Michigan needs more athletes, especially on defense to match up with the speed the Buckeyes consistently put out on the field.
That’s one reason why bringing Hill into the fold is such a big deal. He’s a 6-foot safety that runs 4.3 and tackles like a machine. You can bet that skill set will come in handy when Ohio State visits Ann Arbor next November.
Michigan could use an athlete like Crouch too. According to 247sports, Crouch is 6-foot-2, 230 pounds. That recruiting site has him listed as a running back but the Wolverines are recruiting him as an athlete, meaning he could just as easily wind up on defense.
With Zach Charbonnet already part of the class, running back seems like less of a need, but as the saying goes, you can never have enough good players, so if Crouch wants to play running back, Michigan will surely accommodate him.
After all, the Wolverines need more speed and athleticism on offense too. Karan Higdon has been great, but Michigan needs someone even more dynamic than him. Charbonnet is hopefully that guy but if the Wolverines can keep gaining ground on Crouch, who still seems to favor Tennessee as of now, they will have a couple of candidates.
At this point, Crouch would be the cherry on top of what is already a loaded recruiting class, but in the battle for athletes, there is no such thing as enough.
