Michigan RB Kurt Taylor transfers to Iowa community college

Kurt Taylor has found a new home.

The former Michigan running back, who informed the school in November of his plans to transfer, will play at Iowa Central Community College in 2019, he confirmed to MLive Tuesday evening.

Taylor, who is listed at 5-foot-8 and 194 pounds, did not play in a game at Michigan. He redshirted his freshman season and did not appear in a game in 2018.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Taylor was a three-star recruit from Covington, Ga., where he rushed for 3,023 yards and 40 touchdowns during his three seasons at Grayson High School. He was ranked the 51st running back in the country in the 2017 recruiting class, one that also included O’Maury Samuels.

Samuels, who faces criminal charges stemming from a Dec. 9 incident on the University of Michigan campus, was dismissed from the team last month.

At Iowa Central, a small community college in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Taylor will get an opportunity to play right away. The Tritons are coached by Jesse Montalto, who just wrapped his first season at Iowa Central. The team went 8-4 and won their postseason bowl game.
