The blowout loss to Ohio State crumbled Michigan football’s chances at making the College Football Playoff.
Only the top four make it, and the 62-39 loss on Saturday dropped U-M from fourth to seventh in the latest rankings, released Tuesday night.
The loss also knocked the Wolverines behind the Buckeyes, who are preparing for the Big Ten title game on Saturday against Northwestern in Indianapolis. Which means U-M is out of chances to improve its resume.
To no surprise, Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame remain the top three. Georgia is the new No. 4.
Alabama and Georgia play in the SEC title game on Saturday. Clemson takes on Pittsburgh in the ACC championship and Oklahoma will play Texas in the Big 12 title game.
