Michigan football is hosting a few final visits this weekend and one player the Wolverines will try to pitch is four-star wide receiver Cornelius Johnson.
While the Michigan football team has focused much of its recruiting efforts on defense in the closing weeks, the Wolverines will be hosting four-star wide receiver Cornelius Johnson this weekend in an effort to add another playmaker.
Like many of the guys Michigan football is fighting for, there is going to be some stiff competition. When it comes to Johnson though, the No. 2 player out of the state of Connecticut, things are murkier than usual.
Johnson visited Penn State recently and has Michigan in his top five along with Stanford, Notre Dame and Alabama. Those are definitely some heavy hitters but as of right now, it’s hard to say exactly who the favorite is to land Johnson.
The crystal ball predictions on 247 sports are split between Notre Dame, Stanford and undecided. Michigan is getting just 14 percent of the predictions, compared to the Irish, who are getting 29 percent and Stanford, which is getting 28 percent. However, the one thing Michigan football is getting that the other schools won’t is the final visit and the last chance to pitch Johnson in person.
I will be announcing my commitment next Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 at Brunswick School! pic.twitter.com/kaNUjoutBr

Johnson, who is set to announce his decision Wednesday, when the early-signing period opens, would be a nice addition for the Wolverines, who love big receivers and at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Johnson certainly fits the bill.
Johnson made a visit to Michigan earlier in his recruitment and also made an official visit to Notre Dame back in September. This weekend, he will be back in Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit as the Wolverines try to close strong with another recruit.

So far Michigan’s 2019 class does have a couple of wide receivers, but one Giles Jackson, is more of a slot type and the other is three-star wideout Quintel Kent. Neither has the ability of Johnson, who could add another big target on the outside for the Wolverines.
Obviously, much of the focus when it comes to Michigan football recruiting is on Zach Harrison and Daxton Hill, the two five-star guys UM is in the mix for, however, adding a guy like Johnson can’t be understated and with the final visit in hand, Jim Harbaugh and company get to make the final sales pitch.
Will it be enough to land Johnson? No matter what happens this weekend, it looks like we will find out Wednesday.
