Michigan basketball is without its sixth man against Penn State.
Isaiah Livers, a sophomore forward and usually the first player off John Beilein’s bench, is out for Thursday night’s home game against the Nittany Lions with back spasms.
Livers dressed for the game and was out with the team prior to tip-off, but was unable to go. Per a program spokesman, he won’t play.
Michigan (13-0, 2-0) went with big man Austin Davis and point guard Eli Brooks off its bench first vs. the Nittany Lions.
Livers, who had played in every game so far this season, is averaging 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Wolverines. He went for 17 points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench during a win over Binghamton to close non-league play last week.
It’s unclear how long he’ll be out.
