Harbaugh says Michigan will have ‘fireworks’ on signing day

The early signing period for college football begins on Wednesday, and the Michigan Wolverines expect a handful of players to put pen to paper and officially become part of the program.

On Jim Harbaugh’s podcast show he talked about the early signing period, saying “Wednesday’s going to be good. We’re going to have some fireworks on signing day, it’s going to be great.”

Michigan has more than a half-dozen early enrollees ready to sign their letter of intent and plenty of others who aren’t early enrollees that will be signing on Wednesday.

It’s hard to say whether the fireworks mean there will be new commits that come on board that have yet to even verbally commit, or if Harbaugh’s simply is excited about the 2019 class Michigan has already put together.

Names such as 4-star wideout Cornelius Johnson and 4-star Kalen DeLoach are still in the mix to commit to Michigan. And Even 5-star safety Dax Hill, who flipped from U-M to Alabama, may still have interest in Michigan, according to Sam Webb. Michigan has still been recruiting Hill.

When Harbaugh said there would be some fireworks, Michigan’s Director of Recruiting Matt Dudek chimed in, saying “Oh yeah, a couple fireworks.”

Keep in mind, this was a casual conversation on a podcast, not some boisterous declarative statement. Michigan currently has a top ten 2019 recruiting class, and that may be fireworks enough for Harbaugh and Dudek.

Harbaugh also said he expects to come close to a full class on Wednesday, if not a full class. If the class was to become full, that would mean Michigan did in fact land more commits than it did before this article was published.

We’ll find out soon enough what the fireworks are.
