Good news is on the horizon for Wolverines

Whether it has to do with coaches or recruiting, there have been indications from multiple Michigan football staff members that some good news is coming.

There is no question that the last two days have been rather difficult for Michigan football fans. First, long-time assistant Greg Mattison went to Ohio State. Then, one day later, linebackers coach Al Washington followed suit.

The move by Washington, in all honesty, wasn’t a shock. He has ties to new Ohio State head coach Ryan Day going back to their time with Boston College. He also is from Columbus, so that at least makes sense.

Like I said the other day with Greg Mattison, betrayal is the best way to describe his decision to join Day’s staff. He seems like even more of a Benedict Arnold after it was reported Tuesday that he turned down a two-year deal to stay with Michigan football and that the offer included a raise.

At a time when Ohio State seems to own Michigan, you can see why this has shaken a fan base that is already on edge. Essentially, after seeing the 2018 season as one of redemption for the first 11 games, UM reverted back to its old problems in the final two games and now, we sit here asking the same questions we did going into 2018.

Can Jim Harbaugh win the big game? Can he beat Ohio State? Can he win the Big Ten championship? And on and on.

So, when Matt Dudek, the recruiting coordinator of Michigan teased some good news on his Twitter account Tuesday, Wolverines fans went nuts. In the past, when Dudek has done things like this, it has meant good news.

While we have no idea what Dudek is referring to, it seems more like something on the coaching front as Michigan football already has 25 players signed in its 2019 recruiting class and there isn’t much on the horizon.

One possibility though could be the flipping another Alabama prospect.  The player in question is four-star running back Keilan Robinson. Robinson attends the same school as Michigan commit Quentin Johnson and is waiting until next month to sign.

Robinson seems firmly committed to Alabama but the Wolverines staff has set their sights on him according to 247 sports ($). Another possibility could be the tight end Isaiah Foskey, a four-star who is still undecided. According to Wolverines Wire, Michigan football is still in the mix but that Foskey was expected to choose Notre Dame.

On the recruiting front, those are the two pieces of good news you could think of unless something unexpected happens. So it leads you to believe it must be something on the coaching front and Wednesday, Sherrone Moore also put something on Twitter, teasing something for Michigan football fans to be happy about.

Moore is the tight ends coach, so it’s possible there could be some news on Foskey but if I am being truthful, I am not sure how much that would move the meter.

At this point, just keep your head in the game because something good is coming soon for Michigan fans. It has been a challenging couple of days, but the Wolverines have a lot of resources, a lot of money and they will find quality candidates to replace Mattison and Washington.

And who knows, if the tweets by Dudek and Moore mean anything on the coaching front, maybe they already have.
