SAN ANTONIO — With five days left till early signing day, Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick 2019 wide receiver Cornelius Johnson had yet to make his college decision.
However, he had one more official visit to take on Dec. 14. His final destination, of course, was to Michigan.
After spending the weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich., Johnson says he simply felt like “home” at U-M, and would choose the Wolverines over fellow finalist Penn State and Stanford on early signing day on Dec. 19.
“Part of my decision was that Michigan just felt like home,” Johnson said. “It was a great situation for me and for my family. And that’s ultimately the bigger deciding factors in my decision.”
Though, Johnson admits his decision wasn’t easy.
“It’s a really hard decision because it’s so important for your future,” Johnson said. “But ultimately I was blessed to be in the right mindset to make the decision with ease. And I talked to my parents eventually and let them know.”
And now that he’s signed his letter of intent, Johnson says he’s just ready to focus on his next steps of his football career at Michigan.
“To officially like sign and get that past us, it lifts a certain amount of pressure off of you,” Johnson said. “So, I’m glad to be able to be relieved of that.”
