After a string of crystal balls over the last several days for 5-star defensive end Zach Harrison to go to Ohio State, the end was near.
Now, the end is here.
The talented Ohioan decided to stay in-state and commit to Ohio State over Michigan and Penn State, his two other finalists.
Harrison would have been Michigan’s top-ranked player in the class had he committed to the Maize and Blue.
Luckily, the Wolverines flipped 5-star safety Daxton Hill back from Alabama, and also acquired a commitment from 4-star wide receiver Cornelius Johnson. Not all is as bad as it seems, but it could have been better.
I’ve said this since the summer — had Harrison committed to Michigan, this would have just been gravy for Jim Harbaugh and company. They already have five defensive linemen locked in to the class, including 4-stars Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith. Yeah, losing out on a 5-star to a rival sucks, but this could have been a much worse scenario for Michigan.
