One of the most desired targets left on the 2019 recruiting board is California 5-star wide receiver Kyle Ford. He hasn’t given much reason for hope to Michigan fans recently, but after putting the Wolverines in his top five on Sunday night, there’s still some room for optimism.
Joining Michigan in the top group is USC, Oregon, Washington and Colorado. This update is meaningful because it almost certainly ensures Michigan will get one of Ford’s two remaining officials. He recently said USC would definitely get one, while Michigan was in a good spot for the last one. Eliminating his other contenders should mean he visits Ann Arbor sometime in December.
His Crystal Ball stands at 88 percent USC, 6 percent Washington and 6 percent foggy. That substantial lead by USC may be hampered by its dismal season, as well as the fate of head coach Clay Helton, who is firmly on the hot seat and could be fired any day now.
Ford is ranked as the fifth-best wide receiver in the country, good for 29th nationally. He’s planning to announce his decision at the All-American Bowl Jan. 5.
